Health Professional II - Clinical Research Coordinator – 0127257, regular full-time
This position is for a registered nurse or other healthcare related degree (i.e., respiratory therapy) with experience in critical care medicine. Experience in clinical trial research preferred. Position requires ability to function as a research coordinator for clinical investigations related to pharmaceutical sponsored research projects, which may be either adultary or pediatric in nature. Responsibilities include: subject screening and enrollment, complete and accurate data collection, abstracting data from hospital charts, laboratory draws and processing, information retrieval, project liaison with other departments and sponsoring companies, IRB preparation and submission, regulatory documentation. Requires the ability to work independently and solve problems in an effective manner, good communication and computer skills, and some travel to study meetings. This position requires off hour shifts and weekends.
Administrator I - PALISI Network Coordinator – position #0127254, regular full-time
The Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (PALISI) Network Coordinator will provide support to the PALISI Network Chair in the Department of Critical Care Medicine. Duties include: draft and send membership dues forms, research and compare potential meeting locations, negotiate hotel contracts and all arrangements necessary for meetings, update PALISI budget and track all income from dues, meeting registrations and industry protocol presentations, maintain correspondence with site and study coordinators for pediatric research studies, organize sub-meetings for study members during main PALISI meetings. Coordinator will provide preliminary review of submitted protocols to assure compliance with organizational guidelines. This individual will generally serve as a primary contact for PALISI Network interactions. The position requires the minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in business/secretarial field and 2 plus years of experience, or commensurate; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Access; experience with PowerPoint is a plus; proficiency with navigating the Internet to obtain guidelines, reference information is also required. Discretion and confidentiality of all business is essential to this position. Two years experience in a university setting preferred, with accounting tasks as part of that experience also required.
Systems/Programmer IV - Data Manager – position #0127243, regular full-time
Incumbent will provide data management support to busy, diverse research group. Duties include both working independently and partnering with other programmers to manage and expand capabilities of existing systems, including web applications, that organize and collect data from multiple sites throughout the US. Incumbent must possess programming skills to ensure functionality and visual presentation skills to design flow/logic in a presentation-ready appearance. He/She must be able to analyze and understand computer source codes and data. It is essential that he/she possess project management capabilities and work with study teams to determine a project's requirements, contribute to design and see through to the finished product. Incumbent must be highly analytical, create logical and innovative solutions to complex problems, and possess excellent communication skills. He/She must participate in organization of and recordkeeping for data documentation, develop SOPs as necessary and work with colleagues as appropriate for knowledge sharing.
Health Professional II - Clinical Research Coordinator – position #0126182, regular part-time
Incumbent will work with coordinating center for national clinical research studies. He/She will support the coordinating center team by interacting with the web-based data system to assist with tracking adverse events and compiling study statistics for reporting to sponsor, DSMB and research team. Responsibilities may also include IRB compliance, SOP development, data query generation and travel (within the US) for the purpose of site training and/or monitoring. Incumbent may support study sites by participating in site training and responding to site questions regarding study intervention procedures and web-based data questions as needed. This position requires a broad set of capabilities and experience in conduct of clinical research. Incumbent must possess knowledge of good clinical practice guidelines and procedures, the ability to work independently and effectively solve problems. Incumbent must be highly analytical and possess good communication skills, both written and oral, be detail oriented and organized. Good MSWord skills are required. Excel and PowerPoint skills are also helpful. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other medical profession + 2 years experience in a clinical research setting is required. Incumbent may support other research endeavors as they arise.
Research III - Project Assistant – position # 0127081, regular full-time
Incumbent will provide administrative research support for clinical research. Duties include preparation of reports and compliance documents; ordering supplies, maintaining a record of expenditures. Incumbent will liaise with study site personnel, including physicians and study coordinators and University collaborators. IRB experience strongly preferred as incumbent will track IRB status and use OSIRIS to prepare modifications and submit annual renewals. Duties include preparing site payment requests; writing and organizing others' writings for study newsletter distributed via email. He/She will attend project meetings, take minutes and distribute action item lists, and maintain the project manager's calendar. He/She will arrange meetings and conference calls, including coordinating use of conference phone and facilitating calls. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel required; MS Publisher knowledge is also helpful.
Research III - Laboratory Technician – position #0126988, regular full-time
Incumbent will provide laboratory and technical support for the Molecular Core of the CRISMA Lab in the Department of Critical Care Medicine. The position requires familiarity with principals and methodology of both basic and clinical research. Incumbent will be expected to perform all stages of immunoassays and to measure various cytokines and other sepsis-related analytes. Incumbent will assist in receiving, cataloging, barcode scanning, aliquoting, storing and performing assays on human blood samples with subsequent multi-level analysis and processing of obtained results. Ability and willingness to handle blood specimens while observing Universal Precautions are imperative. The selected candidate's duties will also include assisting in the maintenance of an accurate computer database and log book-based inventory of clinical research samples and their storage locations, assisting with sample tracking throughout the Core Lab and all satellite labs, maintaining lab supply inventory, and other routine tasks as assigned to insure smooth and safe operation of the lab. Some animal work and cell culture work may be required. Computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Access preferred) and excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Bachelor's degree with 2 years previous lab experience, or commensurate is required.
