back

The US Army has just awarded SCRR with over $1 M for the next three years. A consortium of three centers was selected for special research on the management of blast induced brain injury and polytrauma. As one of the selcted centers, SCRR shares this honor with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) and the University of Maryland. In addition to Dr Patrick Kochanek, the team assembled for this research at SCRR includes Drs. Hulya Bayir in CCM, Edward Dixon in Neurosurgery, Valerian Kagan at the Pitt Center for Free Radical and Antioxidant Health, Chien Ho of the Pittsburgh NMR Center at CMU, and Robert Garman in Neuropathology. Obviously, this is very important funding for the SCRR. Dr. Kochanek and his team are all to be congratulated for being awarded this grant.
