
The 4th Kuwait Critical Care Conference was held in conjunction with The 3rd International Pan Arab Critical Care Medicine Congress in Kuwait City, Kuwait under the Authority of Ministry of Health, November 4-8, 2008. Several Pitt faculty members played a major role in many of its activities. Drs. Marie Baldisseri, Raghavan Murugan and former CCM fellow, Dr. Mary Jane Reed gave several lectures, and chaired several sessions and workshops. Dr. Marie Baldisseri chaired the Neuro Critical Care post-graduate workshop. She also lectured on “Organ Donation”, “Brain Injury and Brain Death”, and chaired several sessions. Dr. Raghavan Murugan represented the conference on behalf of Dr. Michael Pinsky and gave four lectures entitled “Using Heart- Lung Interactions to Diagnose Cardiovascular Insufficiency”, “Invasive and Non-Invasive Hemodynamic Monitoring”, “Improving Recognition and Response to Cardio-Pulmonary Insufficiency Outside the ICU” and “Cardiovascular Insufficiency with Initiation and Withdrawal of Mechanical Ventilation”. Dr. Mary Jane Reed spoke on “Critical Care in Review”, “Surgical Critical Care” and “Trauma Critical Care in Review” and chaired 3 sessions. The conference was attended by more than 700 registrants from 23 countries and international speakers from 15 countries. |
