The 2nd International Brain Hypothermia Symposium was held in Miami during October 24 - 27, 2007. Dr. Patrick Kochanek gave a special lecture entitled "Therapeutic Hypothermia. The Safar Vision." He discussed recent positive clinical trials in cardiac arrest of adults and perinatal asphyxia in newborns, demonstrating significant benefit in neurologic outcome using hypothermia. Dr. Kochanek also provided exciting information on animal research at the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research (SCRR). In attendance was Dr. Hugh Rosomoff, renowned neurosurgeon who collaborated with Dr. Safar in early hypothermia research in Pittsburgh during the 1960s.
