From October 1, 2007, Murat Kaynar, MD, Assistant Professor of CCM in our Department, has been appointed Director of the Anesthesiology CCM Fellowship by Dr. John Williams, Professor and Chair, Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Kaynar succeeds Dr. Nicholas Bircher, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and CCM, who has served for more than a decade as Director of this Program. Dr. Kaynar received his anesthesiology training at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and his CCM fellowship training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He is ABA certified in CCM. Dr. Kaynar joined our CCM Department in the Fall of 2006. His clinical service is shared by CCM and OR Anesthesiology. He is a most active researcher with his main area of interest being acute lung injury. He holds a research training grant since 2004 from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research and expects to obtain an NIH K 08 grant for the next five years, beginning in November 2007.
