Pitt CCM Alumni Establishing First Simulation Center in India
back

Dr. Nagarajan Ramakrishnan, senior consultant in critical care at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, India, was a Pitt CCM Fellow 1996 - 1999. Upon graduation from our program, he returned to his native country and started The Academy for Clinical Training (TACT) in Chennai. Dr. Ramesh Venkataraman, Pitt CCM Fellow 1999 - 2001 and Assistant Professor of CCM in our Department until his recent departure in March 2007,  joined Dr. Ramakrishnan in Chennai. Together with two other colleagues, they run this already very busy CCM simulation training center that is the first and, so far, only facility of its kind in India. Using the Laerdal SimMan, they currently provide 10 courses each month including ACLS,  Difficult Airway Management (DAM), and a Basic and Advanced Respiratory Life Support course. The plan is to double the number of courses during this year. TACT is also providing the staff the opportunity to conduct research on the efficiency of simulation training. In the Pitt CCM Department we are very proud of such ambitious and successful alumni returning to their native countries and becoming national leaders in CCM.
