View Dr. Garcia's Bio

Dr. Joe G.N. Garcia is the Lowell T. Coggeshall Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. He lectured on "Lung Vascular Barrier Regulation: Sphingolipids and the Endothelial Cytoskeleton" at a Joint Collaborative Conference of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine and the Department of Critical Care Medicine on March 20th. He also presented CCM Grand Rounds on March 21st to a packed lecture room in Scaife Hall on the topic "Wading in the Genomic Pool for Acute Lung Injury Insights." This was a fabulous, futuristic lecture on genomics and proteomics use in critical care, based on his personal research over the past decade, concluding with the statement that genomic scientists/clinicians will be providing individualized/personal management of the critically ill in the near future.
