Dr. Dan Martich Appointed UPMC Chief Medical Information Officer

Dr. MartichG. Daniel Martich, MD was promoted to Professor of Critical Care Medicine in December 2006. He is the author of more than 50 journal articles and book chapters on CCM, heart and lung transplantation, as well as the electronic health record. At UPMC, he is Vice President of eRecord and has served for many years as Associate Chief Medical Officer. He was appointed Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for UPMC in February 2007. Collaborating with the Information Services Division (ISD), Dr. Martich has been responsible for widely involving, developing, teaching and motivating other UPMC physician leadership and clinicians to embrace the eRecord as a welcome advance for improving health care quality, safety and efficiency. His advice is frequently sought as a national consultant to industry, clinician education and other advanced medical environments. We congratulate Dr. Martich for his academic promotion and high UPMC leadership appointment.
