The American Thoracic Society held its annual International Conference in San Diego, CA on May 20-25, 2005. Invited speakers from the CCM Department were Drs. Fink, Pinsky, Kellum and Milbrandt.
Mitchell P. Fink, MD chaired the session on Mechanisms of Organ Dysfunction During Severe Sepsis: Assemblies on Critical Care/Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology and lectured on “The Tissue Hypoxia Vs. Cytopathic Hypoxia Controversy.”
Michael R. Pinsky, MD presented a lecture entitled, “Static or Dynamic Parameters Assessing Intravascular Volume Status?” in the Optimizing Fluid Therapy in the ICU session. Dr. John A. Kellum presented a lecture entitled, Is Crystalloid-Related Hyperchloremic Acidosis Clinically Relevant?” in the same session. Dr. Michael R. Pinsky was appointed as co-chair of the International Consensus Conference Committee for the ATS Consensus Conference Assembly.
Eric B. Milbrandt, MD, MPH addressed “Potential Mechanisms and Markers of Acute and Chronic Brain Dysfunction” during the Theory and Practice Session on Managing the Brain on Mechanical Ventilation.
CCM Fellow, Dr. David Van Pelt presented an abstract entitled "Prevalence and Outcomes of Caregiving After Prolonged Mechanical Ventilation" written by DC Van Pelt, EB Milbrandt, L Chelluri, AJ Rotondi, DC Angus, MR Pinsky.
CCM Fellow, Dr. Oleg Sorokoumov presented an abstract entitled "The Correlation between APACHE 3 Score Change and the Major Outcomes on Days 1, 3 and 5 of ICU Stay" written by O Sorokoumov, MR Pinsky and D Martich.
Michael R. Pinsky, MD was a contributing author for an abstract entitled "Non-Invasive Detection of Volume Responsiveness: Response to Leg Raising and Aortic Blood Flow Time Assessed by Esophageal Doppler Monitoring" written by X Monnet, M Rienzo, D Osman, N Anguel, C Richard, M Pinsky, J Teboul and L Kremlin-Bicetre.
