The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Critical Care Medicine and the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC seek a new Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. The successful candidate will hold the titles of Division Chief, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, in the Department of Critical Care Medicine, and Director, Critical Care Services, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and will lead a world-class division on a new state-of-the-art children’s hospital campus. The division is internationally recognized for its excellent patient care, pre-eminent subspecialty training program, and outstanding basic and clinical research. The ideal candidate will have extensive clinical experience in the management of critically ill or injured infants and children, as well as those who have undergone major surgical procedures, a strong record of research with peer-reviewed funding and publications, and a commitment to fellow and resident education. He or she will have knowledge of major issues related to ICU, hospital, and medical school administration and excellent interpersonal and management skills. Certification in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine (or equivalent qualifications) and eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania is required. Pediatric Intensivists
The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine of the University of Pittsburgh seeks a board-certified (or eligible) pediatric intensivist committed to patient care, resident and fellow education, and clinical or laboratory research.
Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is a 260-bed hospital serving 5 million people. The patient population includes virtually every child in the region suffering life-threatening illness or injury. In addition to having the full range of medical subspecialties and active cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and other subspecialty surgery programs, the hospital is an international center for liver, small bowel, multivisceral, heart, and lung transplantation. An active ECMO program cares for neonates and older children with severe respiratory or circulatory insufficiency. Overall, over 2500 patients are admitted each year to the 68-bed intensive care complex.
The training program in pediatric critical care medicine is internationally renowned. Opportunities for education research and innovation are plentiful, including an exceptional simulation center. Fellows in the accredited Critical Care Medicine training program provide 24-hour in-house coverage.
Opportunities and resources for both clinical and laboratory research abound at the University of Pittsburgh. Start-up funds are available from both hospital and department. We have particular strengths in translational neurointensive care, neuroscience, sepsis, shock, transport medicine, and heath care simulation.

Pediatricians/Hospitalists
The Department of Critical Care Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is actively seeking pediatricians to provide hospitalist services in collaboration with the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine faculty. Duties will include patient care in the ICU under the supervision of intensivists, as well as care of patients on the intermediate care unit, and in transport triage.
